Everything at ALMA has a name behind it: a maker, a workshop, a tradition, or a life it lived before.

Some pieces are one of a kind. Some are made a hundred at a time by a family that has made them for two hundred years. Some are older than anyone in the room. What they share is that someone knew why.

We do not carry anything you could find at Amazon, an aisle, or a warehouse in another hemisphere. We carry objects with weight, grain, scent, and patina; things that are better in your hand than on your screen.

Candlelight, copal, the room

Alma is a word that speaks across cultures.

In Spanish, it means "soul" or "spirit." In Latin, "nourishing"; in Hebrew, "maiden"; in Arabic, "wise" or "knowing." It is often translated as "bountiful mother." For us, Alma conjures all of that, and something deeper: All MA, the Great Mother, the bountiful essence that feeds all life, growth, and evolution.

Away from fast fashion and the soulless machinery of mass production, ALMA brings us back to human hands and the profound beauty of imperfection.

Sundays

Alma is open every Sunday from 2pm to 6pm, free, no reservation. Evenings from 6 to 10 are by reservation, with a $20 cover that comes straight back to you. Come lounge, learn, and linger.

Spirited Monday Salons

Sixteen seats. $35 each, applied in full toward anything you take home that night.

Step beneath the surface for an evening of spontaneous dialogue amidst original art, extraordinary objects, and great company.

Cellar for Six

Up to 6 guests · 2 hours · $200 minimum purchase, collected at booking and applied to whatever you carry out.

Two hours underground with five people of your choosing and no one else. We pour you something, tell you what happened down here before you arrived, then get out of the way and let you touch everything.

Private Party Rentals

Up to 20 guests · from $400, or from $1,200 hosted with catering and styling.

The whole cellar, up to twenty people, and the doors closed behind you. We set up, pour, and clear. Birthdays, bridal parties, a company that would rather not book a function room. Catering and private styling if you want them.
