A Saturday at Alma
Mothers, Daughters & the Women Who Raised Us
Three generations, three cozy lounges, and a simple craft to connect us — and to bring home to remember our time together.
Saturday, January 16, 2027, 4 to 6pm
Remember licking envelopes around a kitchen table with women of every age, for a cause nobody can quite recall, and how much got said while nobody was looking at anybody? That's the afternoon. Three cozy lounges at Alma, six women in each, every age at every table, and something to do with your hands so the talking happens sideways.
You come as two or three: a daughter and her mother, a granddaughter and the woman who raised her, a mentor and the one she minds. We'll mix the rooms so each one holds a sixteen-year-old and a seventy-year-old and most of the ages in between — and we'll ask one question that all of you have an answer to.
You'll tie a bundle of lavender or sage to take home. You'll stitch one word into a length of linen that stays at Alma and grows a little every time. And you'll write a letter — three minutes, no more — to the woman across from you who is the age you were, or the age you'll be. You trade them sealed, and you don't open yours until you're home.
Coming on your own? Come. We'll seat you with a family who'd love one more at the table.
Nothing to prepare, nothing to bring, nothing you have to be good at. There'll be elixirs and tea, the copal going, and the shop open after. Come as you are. That's rather the point.
