What do you actually find beautiful, as opposed to what you were trained to find beautiful? And where does it live — in the thing itself, or in the looking? Why does a cracked bowl move us more than a perfect one?
What has beauty cost you? In hours. In money. In how you have felt walking into a room. And what has it given you — in pleasure, in inspiration, and during times of heartache?
Is beauty fair? It opens doors that effort does not, and we all know it and mostly don't say it. Does beauty fade, or does it deepen with time?
And what does beauty have to do with truth anyway? Do we trust a beautiful idea more than a true one? Can a thing be beautiful and a lie?
Come with whatever you actually think, including the parts you have never said in company. No one is expected to be an expert, and nothing said here follows you out the door.
