Where are you from, and where do you belong, and are they the same place? Who are your people, who decided, and what did it cost to be let in or to leave?

Where are you from, and where do you belong, and when did you first notice those were two different questions? What makes a place yours: the years, the people, the land, a key?
Who are your people? Who decided that, you or them? What did it cost to be let in, and what did it cost to leave somewhere you no longer fit? Have you ever belonged somewhere you were never supposed to, and how did it feel?
Why does a handmade object from a town you've never seen feel like it belongs in your house? Can you belong to a tradition that isn't yours by birth, and where is the line between honouring and taking?
What do we owe the places and people we come from, and what do we owe the ones we've chosen? Is belonging something you find, something you build, or something you are given when you stop looking for it?
Come at midsummer, when the doors are open and the room is full. This one works best with strangers at the table, so bring one.

Sixteen seats only — the evening only works small. $35 a seat, and the whole $35 comes back to you as credit toward anything you take home that night. If your plans change. If you need to cancel, please do so at least 48 hours beforehand. Your reservation will be refunded in full, or you can ask for it to be transferred to another Alma event. Simply reply to your confirmation email, or write to Heidi@almaspiritinspired.com.
